Two More Great Reasons to attend Camp Courage!

Courage Campaign

Dear Brooke —

We hope you’re as excited as we are about Camp Courage coming to Fresno on March 7-8. Thank you so much for signing up — we’re looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

And now we’ve got some wonderful news that we hope you’ll forward to your friends ASAP:

Legendary civil rights activists Dolores Huerta and Cleve Jones will be coming to Camp Courage this weekend!

Camp Courage will use the same community organizing methods that Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta pioneered in building the United Farm Workers movement over 40 years ago and that Harvey Milk, Cleve Jones and many others used to revolutionize the gay rights movement in the 1970’s.

That’s why we’re so thrilled to have Dolores and Cleve in Fresno at this special marriage equality training program modeled on the "Camp Obama" trainings that helped push Barack Obama into the White House.

We’re relying on you to build a buzz for Fresno’s Camp Courage. Please spread the word right now by forwarding this message to your friends before the event is sold out.

Here is the application link for your friends. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday, March 5, at 12 p.m.:

Cleve Jones became an activist when he was befriended by pioneer gay rights leader Harvey Milk — a relationship prominently featured in "Milk," the Academy-Award winning film that Cleve pushed to get produced. In 1983, Jones co-founded the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and later conceived the idea of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, which has grown to become the world’s largest community arts project, memorializing the lives of over 85,000 Americans killed by AIDS.

Dolores Huerta directed the UFW’s national grape boycott in the 1960’s, taking the plight of the farm workers to the consumers. The boycott resulted in the entire California grape industry signing a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the United Farm Workers in 1970. The mother of 11 children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Dolores continues to play a major role in California as a civil rights and social justice activist.

Dolores and Cleve will be at Camp Courage on March 7-8. So will you. And now we want your friends to be there as well. Space is limited, so please forward this message now before the event is sold out. The application link for your friends is below. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Thursday, March 5, at 12 p.m.:
